Q:  1) What are the special functions applied on garment?

A:  There are four special functions applied on garments:

  • Anti-UV
Anti-UV garments are able to reflect UV radiation avoiding direct contact with our skin.
  • High absorbance and wicking properties
Auxiliaries are added to garments to increase the absorbency rate of garment up to 200% which make especially suitable to wear in summer and for work which requires high level of man power.

  • Water resistance
Water resistance finish garment prevent water from absorbing into the garment.
  • Night reflective function
A variety of reflective fabric, transfer film, stripe and reflective plate can be chosen among 3M (e.g. 3M™ Scotchlite™) and other brands. Reflective materials on garments can increase your visibility to the other drivers and ensure the safety of motorists at night.

Q:    2)  Are  there wrinkle-free  fabrics?

A:   Yes, usually polyester coating is added on fabric to make it anti-crease, e.g. wrinkle free  trousers. Polyester is not easy to fold while cotton does. Therefore 100% polyester fabric is less likely to have wrinkles after folding. However, the fabrics are less breathable and feel stiffer during wearing. Normally  woven fabric that used to make official dress like shirt, suit and trousers will have such wrinkle free nature.

Q:    3)  Can fabrics be water-proof?

A:   It depends on the application of fabrics. Generally, fabrics are said to be water repellent rather than water-resistance. Under normal atmospheric pressure, windbreakers are not water-repellent. There are some windbreakers which are marketed with water repellent function, this is because the fabric is coated with a PU (Polyurethane) layer which could repel water under normal atmospheric pressure (e.g. during raining days). However, this PU coating will gradually be washed away when the jacket is continually worn and washed, thus reduce the water repellent function. Some famous brands (e.g. The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Burton Snowboards, Schoeffel) apply Gortex fabric in which a water repellent membrane is bond to the fabric together with heat seal sewing or ultra sound welding sewing technique, it could achieve seamless outerwear which are good in water resistant.

Q:    4)  Can fabric be wind-proof?

A:   It depends on fabric density and application of materials. For micro-fibers and down-proof fabrics, owing to the high weaving density, fibers on the fabric surface are closely packed, together with the PU coating. Wind-proofing quality can thus be greatly improved. If a fleece layer is added insides the garment, the insulating and wind-proof property can further be improved.

Q:     5)  Can fabric be soil-resistant?

A:   Anti-soil auxiliary can be added to some fabric to avoid stain penetrate into the fabric. It makes the stain stay on the surface of the fabric and easier to be removed or clean up. But the anti-stain chemical is solely a coating on the fabric, it will be washed out gradually if the apron is used and washed from time to time, anti-stain function will thus be reduced.

Q:     6)  What is the function of wicking and high-absorbance fabrics?

A:      Wicking fabric undergoes some  chemical treatments. Sweat  can be absorbed and removed by the apparel made of wicking fabric, giving a cool and fresh feeling. Thus wicking fabric applied mostly on sportswear. Fabric 100% cotton  fabric  is made of cotton yarn, which is soft, comfortable, and has very high water absorption rate due to their hydroscopic properties. However, sweat cannot be removed easily, making you feel moist and uncomfortable.

Q:     7)  What are the special features and functions of permanent dryfit yarn fabrics?

A:      Permanent Dryfit yarn fiber are man-made fiber with oblong hollow cross-section. Its special features lead to excellent wicking and breathable properties. Permanent Dryfit fabric can easily absorption sweat from our body and further spread on the fabric surface to increase the surface air for more effective evaporation. At the same time, it allows sweat to be easily transported away from our skin, keeping our skin dry, comfortable and maintain our body temperature at a suitable level.
